Admission Requirements – SLI
Applicants are admitted under the General Regulations of the School of Graduate Studies. Applicants must also satisfy IHPME’s additional admission requirements stated below.
1. Applicants require an overall B+ average or higher in the last two years of an appropriate bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
2. Applicants must have health-care experience and demonstrate an aptitude for innovation and health systems.
3. Preference will be given to medical trainees in a Canadian Faculty of Medicine or to early-career physicians. Undergraduate medical trainees must register part-time. Post-graduate medical education trainees may register full-time or part-time. Those intending to apply full time, kindly contact Christina Lopez (firstname.lastname@example.org) prior to submitting your application to discuss specifics of the full time option.
Applicants will enrol part-time* and/or full-time and submit the following documents as part of the online SGS application system:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
A two-page curriculum vitae (CV) that provides a summary of academic and leadership experience,
Undergraduate and graduate education (i.e. degree(s), scholarships or awards)
Paid employment history (role, organization and duration)
Volunteer service history (role, organization and duration)
Accomplishments in athletics, the arts or other domains that reflect leadership and teamwork
- Letter of Intent
The letter of intent should outline your interest in health system leadership, leadership aspirations, career goals and learning goals, and experience relevant to health systems.
- Two (2) Confidential Letters of Reference
Two confidential letters of reference, of which one must be from a faculty member (undergraduate medical degree), who is able to indicate to the admissions committee the applicant’s academic ability and career aspirations, and comment on the applicant’s potential benefit from the MSc in System Leadership and Innovation.
Transcripts must be scanned and uploaded to the SGS application website.
*Medical students can enrol part-time only.
